The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award

We are proud to deliver the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award at UWC East Africa. The Award is for students aged 14-24 years and comprises of three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. At each level, students have to complete a skill, a physical activity, a service and an adventurous journey. To learn more about the requirements of the Award, please go to www.dofe.org

The Award promotes personal and social development, and allows students to experience and embody the philosophy of the UWC mission. Students learn from these new experiences, whilst discovering hidden capabilities and talents. The Award is about sustaining an ongoing commitment to activities of choice, both within the school grounds and outside. As a school, we value the relationships we have with our partners, and students become key players in maintaining these.

Not only does the Award help students to develop perseverance, discipline, independence and useful habits, it is a fun and great way to spend time with friends and create long-lasting memories through meeting people, volunteering and being active. Young people become invested in their community and form enduring friendships.
