Our story began in 1969, when International School Moshi was established at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. From the beginning, the school was shaped by a spirit of openness, curiosity, and international mindedness.
In the 1970s, the school became the first in Africa to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, marking a major milestone not only for the school, but for education across the continent.
Over the decades, the school continued to grow, welcoming students from across Tanzania, the region, and the world. A second campus was later established in Arusha, expanding access to an IB education and strengthening the school’s presence in northern Tanzania.
In 2019, the school joined the United World Colleges movement and became UWC East Africa. This marked a new chapter, connecting the school to a global network of like-minded institutions committed to education as a force for peace and a sustainable future.
Today, our history continues to shape who we are — a school rooted in Africa, connected to the world, and always looking forward.
