Page last updated 17 March 2020
This page is designed to assist students in Tanzania who need to take various tests for university or college admission or for employment purposes outside Tanzania. The information on this page may be inaccurate or out of date, and you are recommended to check the individual test websites (links given below) for accurate details.

For many tests, you will be required to register online about six weeks before the test and must pay with an internationally valid credit card. The fees given below are the amount you will pay if you pay directly using a credit card.

If you do not have a credit card, it is now possible to easily get a Mastercard in Tanzania with an M-Pesa account. In M-Pesa go to:
4 Pay by MPesa | 6 MPesa Mastercard | 1 Create Card
and create your own card using part of your MPesa balance. MPesa will send you a card number, CVV code and expiry date, which you can then use to pay online.

Airtel has also announced that they will have a Mastercard facility available for customers.

If payment with a credit card is still a problem for you, you may contact the Moshi test coordinator on tests@tsws.uk (at least 2 weeks before the registration deadline) for assistance (tests in Moshi only). We can also provide advice regarding any of the tests being held in Moshi.

For support and advice with university applications or test preparation, you may wish to contact TANSAO (Tanzania Student Achievement Organization) at www.tansao.info.

Another source of information may be EducationUSA at the American Embassy in Dar es Salaam. See https://tz.usembassy.gov/education-culture/educationusa/ for more details.

UWCEA students should always contact the University Counsellor on campus for advice and support.

Many tests will require you to use your passport (original) or government-issued photo-ID (eg NIDA card – original – or driving licence) as proof of your identity. You must ensure that your name and date of birth on your ID document is EXACTLY the same as the name and date of birth that you provide when registering.
