What school Rocks?
The Secondary School musical production for 2019 is School of Rock, based on the film by the same name. The story follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight–A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s headmistress finding out?
For auditions, students will come to the Music Room (M7) on Wednesday, 21 August at 2.30pm. They should be prepared to read from a provided script and sing a song of their choice. If a backing track is wanted, please bring it on a USB stick.
For CCAs: students who will audition for the production should leave Monday and Wednesday 2.30-3.30 open on the sign-up spreadsheet. Casting decisions will be released on Thursday, 22 August after which students can proceed to sign up for the musical production CCA or another CCA if there is no role available.
Remember, accepting a role in the production is making a commitment to be at every rehearsal as well as the final performances at the end of this term.
Anyone who is interested in being in the band for the production should send an email and speak with Mr. Dixon.
We look forward to seeing this year’s performing stars!
