Passing of Neil McCulloch

Neil McCulloch

Dear members of the UWCEA community,

This morning we received the shattering news that Neil McCulloch died last night from cardiac failure in the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi where he had been admitted earlier this week. Whilst Neil had been receiving treatment for much of last year, his death has come as a shock to us all.

Neil first joined the UWC community in 2003 when he started working as an Economics teacher at UWCSEA; a position he held for fifteen years. After four years in the United Kingdom, Neil started his international teaching career in 1997 in Kuwait and then in Zambia. It was in Zambia when he first met and became a close friend of Phil and Amanda Bowen. Before joining us in Arusha, he was working at the British School of Manilla in the Philippines. Due to his cooking, sense of adventure and trademark dry sense of humour, Neil was an instant hit with students and staff in every school he worked. He will be missed by so many.

Our thoughts are with his sister Lesley and his many friends around the globe.
