Arusha Campus Newsletter 24th June 2019

The MOST competitve race of the year – the mums and dads race at the Primary Cross Country Event! I have seen more civilised races in Pamplona!

Dear Parents

Liz and Darren demonstrate that Darren knows exactly where he stands in Thursday’s game of Mr and Mrs!

Thursday brought the end of an era – the final assembly as International School Moshi, Arusha. Fifty years of history and memories, changes in education styles, authorisations for PYP, MYP and Diploma, graduations and many more events than we can count. However, a school is not a name or a logo, it is the people who make up the community: the teachers who aid learning, the students who bring their energy and the parents who trust in the educational process – this is what makes a school a success.

I have been privileged to be a very small part of the ongoing evolution of what will now become UWC East Africa. Many things have changed in the past four years and many things will continue to change. What will not change is the commitment of the Arusha community to work together as a collective to educate young people to be citizens of the world: successful, humble, adaptable and above all ambassadors for what is possible if you give your best.

The next years will bring challenge, but there is little doubt that the Arusha community will take it in their stride and pull together to reach new heights.

Liz, Zara and I will greatly miss being part of this amazing community. I wish you all a relaxing and safe holiday, and whether you are returning or leaving for new adventures, success and happiness.

Darren

…a lot less synergy in this relationship!

Harmony exemplified!

You may have been wondering what had happened to this year’s Summit Magazine. Well, we have taken the responsible decision to put it entirely on-line to reduce our impact on the environment. The new Summit can be viewed here https://www.ismoshi.org/news/summit-magazine/

Many thanks to Mwegelo our Advancement Officer for creating this year’s masterpiece.

Our U13 Netball team traveled to SCIS for a friendly game on Wednesday. The team won by 17-4 points. It was a fun way to wrap up the season! Sadly we are going to miss one of our most valuable members of the team Sierra who will be sorely missed by the team. All the best in your new adventures Sierra. Thanks to coach Caroline and David for accompanying the team.

Last week the Primary School migrated to the small field and ran their hearts out for their houses in the Inter House Cross Country event. Some super perfomances from members of all houses from EC to P6. In the end it was Mawenzi who ran out winners on the day! The picture above shows P4/5 on the starting blocks, rearing to go!
