Like tiny ants, the Arusha D1’s wend their way across the Engare Nanyuki valley en route to Pamoja School
Goodness, I am getting later and later with my newsletters! Many apologies! I have a small excuse in that this weekend we were wholly proccupied with our Matembezi to Pamoja (Walk to Pamoja Secondary School). At midday on Saturday, the Arusha Campus students set out from a point in the foothills of Mt Meru to walk towards Kilimanjaro. At the same time, Moshi students set out from the lee of Kili heading toward Meru! The agreement was for each campus to walk 9kms each and meet on the plains in the middel of the two iconic mountains. There we celebrated an aggregate of 18kms which is in keeping with our status as the 18th UWC in the world.
Aside from the obvious opportunity for cross-campus exchange, our real mission for the weekend was to show our support for Pamoja Secondary School and the Amini Life trust that runs the school. We were able to mingle with the Pamoja students, exchange gifts and enjoy the biggest barbeque ever! Over 200 students gathered for 24hours of great fun. Before leaving managed to plant some trees, donate 200 textbooks, help ly the foundations for the new dormitory there and dig two giant refuse pits…….and before we left we even managed to do the washing-up!
Enjoy the pictures below and from me, a sincere thank you to everyone involved including all students, teachers and the Amini Life Co-ordinators! We are alreayd looking forward to doing at all over again!
This week we have the Friday Market to look forward to in Campus at 2pm followed by the PTA Breakfast on Saturday morning – details of both events follow in this newsletter
